STICKMAN STEW & The Gold Heart Crew ™, a new plush toy line from Jane Guinn, Rockport inventor, helps parents teach the value of respect so that the back-to-school transition is easier. Guinn explains, “Our toys offer a simple lesson that triggers a child’s understanding of empathy. Once a child appreciates The Golden Rule, his or her chance for success at school, especially during back-to-school time, increases significantly.” Children who are empathetic are better listeners. Children who listen well, tend to excel.
Numerous studies in the US and elsewhere support Guinn’s approach. When children are encouraged to develop good attitudes towards themselves, their learning, character development and test scores leap. As a result, smart Texas schools are starting to offer programs to help students develop key character strengths. “And we want to work with them. Teaching is tough. We want to make it easier for all,” says Guinn.
The popular toy line known was recently awarded the coveted PTPA Winner’s Seal of Approval. PTPA Media has North America’s largest volunteer parent testing community, with over 60,000 parents, and was rated the Most Trusted Seal by 22,000 parents. The innovative brand competed among many product entries from across North America to successfully earn the PTPA™ Seal.
The vibrant, posable characters are supported by a meaningful call to action tag line, “Respect. Pass It On!” and were designed to inspire imaginary play. “I think parents and children on occasion benefit from putting aside electronic devices and just letting the mind day dream and create ideas.”
Guinn, whose title is Champion of a Respectable Enterprise, created the colorful toy line line in recognition of a child’s first depiction of his or her world: a stick figure. “It’s a universal symbol. Children the world over draw stick figures.”
Apart from STICKMAN STEW, The Gold Heart Crew” consists of STICKKID SID, STICKGIRL SHIRL and STICKGAL SAL. Each of the toys feature a heart of gold; a cute reminder that we are all bound by a single common attribute: our hearts. Parents may purchase the toys, which range from $7.00 to $9.95 each, from the company’s web site www.stickmanstew.com.
